Creating Disability-Inclusive Science Learning Environments

This course is designed for educators who are curious about the intersections of culture, science and disability. Educators are invited to explore tools and opportunities to help expand inclusive science practices for K-12 students with disabilities. Topics include tactile science manipulatives, audio description, accessibility features of digital tools, and more.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen connections between science and students with disabilities
  • Identify scientists with disabilities, and incorporate them as role models
  • Discover tools and technology to create accessible and inclusive content
  • Recognize Ontario’s accessibility standards and the government’s current process to develop new accessibility standards
  • Review resources available to continue your learning journey

This course is self-paced. To obtain your completion badge for this course, you will have to complete a self-reflection.

This course is suitable for educators teaching Kindergarten to Grade 12.
