Digital and Scientific Literacy

Like any form of literacy, our skills are always growing. Being digitally and scientifically literate requires us to understand what being digitally and scientifically literate means and what actions it involves. In this course, we will look at these definitions and actions, along with how digital platforms, like social media, disseminates scientific information and misinformation. In addition, we will explore how the scientific process is used to eliminate our unconscious bias when we are presented with new information. 

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Identify what it means to be digitally and scientifically literate 
  • Analyze connections between media, digital and scientific literacy.
  • Identify how to acknowledge unconscious bias.

This course is a self-paced course. To obtain your completion badge for this course you will have to complete a series of self-reflection questions.

Grade Level

This course is suitable for educators teaching Kindergarten to Grade 12.
