Investigating Science in the World Around You

This self-paced course will introduce you to the nine aspects of the Nature of Science deemed essential for the development of scientific literacy. Explore how this knowledge applies in the K-12 curriculum. Investigate many grade appropriate examples of how to bring the Nature of Science to life for your students.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

    1. Summarize the key features of how scientific knowledge is developed and how it is different from other types of knowledge
    2. Investigate the importance of critical thinking, curiosity, and questioning skills in scientific inquiry.
    3. Describe possible approaches to addressing selected aspects of the Nature of Science with your students.
